N is for Nathan Stark

Stark: "Good job, Carter. Wow, that didn't even leave a bad taste in my mouth.
Carter: "Oh, give it a second."
Stark: "Yep, there it is."

It took me several seasons to realize that I actually enjoyed the character of Nathan Stark from the TV series Eureka. As the main character's "rival," I assumed I was supposed to hate him and did for a while, but then I realized I have fun watching the friction he creates.

He's not a "bad" guy, though he's super smart, good looking, and he knows it. But I think his heart's in the right place. Most of the time. And I can see why pushing Carter's buttons might be fun.

Shout out to blogger buddy N: Nutschell at The Writing Nut is full of great writing tips and helpful comments.

  1. He was only around for a few seasons, but he had a lot more depth than most people realized.
    And Nutschell rocks!

  3. I never 'liked' this character, but understood why he was there. I guess the actor did a great job to make me not like them so much... :)

    1. Ditto. I hated him but he was a necessary plot device.

  5. I've only seen characters from Eureka on Wil Wheaton's Tabletop; I've still not seen the show (but I love the sound of it).

  6. I just watched the whole Eureka series--well, last year. I liked how some of the characters stuck around longer, like Stark, so like you said, he wasn't just "bad."

  7. Eureka is on my "to do" list to sit down and watch on Netflix or DVD. It always looked entertaining.
